Minimum 30-Second Trade Hold Time

The 30-second minimum trade hold time means that every trade must remain open for at least 30 seconds before being closed.

Which accounts does the 30-second rule apply to?

The 30-second minimum trade hold time applies ONLY to:

  • Funded accounts (after passing any evaluation)

  • Instant Funded accounts

❌ This rule does NOT apply to evaluation or challenge phases.

When does the 30-second timer start?

The timer begins the moment a trade is opened and ends once 30 full seconds have elapsed.

Closing a trade even a fraction of a second early is considered a violation.

What happens if I violate the 30-second rule?

The rule follows a two-step enforcement process:

First Violation

  • You will receive a formal warning

  • No account closure occurs

  • You may continue trading

Second Violation

  • The account is considered in breach

  • Results in immediate and permanent account closure

  • Breaches cannot be reversed

Does this rule apply to all trades?

Yes. The 30-second minimum applies to:

  • Manual trades

  • Expert Advisors (EAs)

  • Automated strategies

All executions are monitored automatically.

Does closing multiple trades quickly count as multiple violations?

Yes.

Each trade closed in under 30 seconds is evaluated individually.

Multiple short-duration trades may result in:

  • A warning for the first violation

  • A breach upon the second violation

Why does NSF enforce a 30-second minimum hold time?

This rule is designed to:

  • Prevent latency arbitrage and ultra-high-frequency execution

  • Promote responsible risk management

  • Ensure fair trading conditions across all funded accounts

  • Maintain platform integrity and long-term sustainability

Can I appeal a 30-second hold time breach?

No.

Once a second violation occurs and the account is breached:

  • The decision is final

  • The account is permanently closed

  • Breaches cannot be reversed or appealed

How can I avoid violating the 30-second rule?

  • Avoid scalping strategies that rely on extremely short hold times

  • Adjust EAs to enforce a minimum trade duration

  • Use time-based exit rules instead of instant closures

  • Double-check execution timing before manually closing trades

Summary

  • 30-second minimum trade hold time applies ONLY to funded and Instant Funded accounts

  • Evaluation phases are excluded

  • 1st violation = warning

  • 2nd violation = account breach

  • Rule applies to all trade types, including EAs
